We have 3 domains in their testing stage – they are for existing clients and one is being migrated from a Joomla! site and the other from a site that we handcrafted around 8 years ago (looking a little tired now). Keep thinking we are nearly there with our migration from Joomla! but we do still have quite a way to go.
We have reached capacity on our Lariat server and are looking to begin implementing Cooper in the very near future.
During February, we were rather selfish and concentrated on our own sites. This consisted of updating our LocoMatrix parent company site, and creating 2 subdomains – one for our existing game Invisible Buildings and one for our new one, GeoCrash. We continue to be excited by the new responsive themes and learning their qualities and foibles.
We also updated the Bournemouth Chiropractors site – turning from a hand coded HTML site into a rather fine one-pager. No surprise there, then!
WordPress has come on in leaps and bounds since we started working with content management systems. In former times, we would advise clients to use WordPress only if they were more interested in blogging, and Joomla! if they wanted a full-blown website. Today WordPress fits the bill for most purposes and I there are very few reasons for needing anything else.
First of all, it is much easier for clients to work with – from the editing of text to the addition of pictures, WordPress is a breeze. The choice of templates, and the ease of changing them is another great benefit. And probably most important, WordPress is easy to backup and update, meaning that there are likely to be fewer security issues.
