We are working with artist Graham Dean to explore how AI can transform the way visitors experience an online art collection. By combining detailed artwork information with a carefully designed taxonomy, we are creating a system that allows people to discover paintings through themes, subjects, techniques, colours and artistic periods, rather than simply browsing a conventional gallery.
The project demonstrates how AI can act as a virtual curator, helping visitors uncover connections across an artist’s body of work and explore collections in a more natural and conversational way. It also serves as a showcase for the power of well-structured taxonomy, illustrating how thoughtful organisation of content can significantly enhance what AI is able to understand and reveal.
